By downloading, installing, or using the Cartas Culturales mobile application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the App. These Terms apply to all users, including those who access the App without an account.
Cartas Culturales is a daily cultural learning app delivering five curated cards each day covering Latinx history, regional Spanish phrases, food, music, art, community figures, and language lessons. Content is AI-generated and human-reviewed for cultural accuracy.
The App is intended for users 13 years of age and older. By creating an account or making a purchase, you confirm you are at least 13 years old. The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a user under 13 has created an account, we will promptly delete that account and all associated data.
Users aged 13 to 17 must have parental or guardian consent before making any purchase. By completing a purchase, you represent that you are 18 or older, or that a parent or guardian has authorized it.

The different price tiers exist so users can support the app at whatever level feels right for them. Everyone gets the same features regardless of tier chosen.

Beta codes issued by Cartas Culturales grant premium-equivalent access for the period specified. Beta codes are non-transferable and may not be sold or traded.
iOS in-app purchases are processed by Apple and are subject to Apple's payment terms and refund policy. To request a refund for an iOS purchase, contact Apple Support directly. We are not able to issue refunds for App Store transactions.
Web purchases and donations are processed by Stripe. For web purchase refund questions, contact us at hello@cartasculturales.com.
Premium purchases are for a one-year access period and do not auto-renew. You will need to repurchase when your access period expires if you wish to continue.
To access certain features you may create an account. You agree to provide accurate information at registration and to keep your credentials confidential. Email is optional at registration; if not provided, account recovery options will be limited.
You may permanently delete your account at any time from within the app: Settings > Account > Delete Account. Deletion is immediate and permanent. All of your personal data, preferences, streaks, achievements, and records will be removed. This cannot be undone. Deleting your account does not automatically trigger a refund for any remaining premium access period.
You agree to use the App for lawful, personal, non-commercial purposes only. You agree not to:
Cartas Culturales content is generated using AI services (OpenAI, Anthropic, and Perplexity) and reviewed by human editors before publication. Content is provided for educational and cultural enrichment and should not be treated as a definitive academic or scholarly source. We make no warranties regarding the completeness or accuracy of any historical or cultural content.
If you believe any content is inaccurate, culturally insensitive, or inappropriate, you can flag it directly within the app. All flagged content is reviewed by our editorial team.
All content within the App — including card designs, the Tío Pablo character, Lotería-inspired visuals, brand elements, and curated cultural content — is owned by or licensed to Cartas Culturales and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, personal, non-commercial license to use the App. Shareable card images may be posted to social media provided that attribution to Cartas Culturales is preserved.

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ALL CONTENT WILL BE COMPLETE OR PERFECTLY ACCURATE.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CARTAS CULTURALES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and applicable state law, without regard to conflict of law principles.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the App or by email if provided. Continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
